Fresh from the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC comes the musical comedy Shirley Dreaming with performances on Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st at the Perishable Theatre. This is the first work ever presented by the Apron Theatre Company, a new, DC-based production company that seeks to redefine the theatre experience through interactions between the audience and the artist. Written by recent college grad Tyler Budde with an original score by brother Craig Budde, Shirley Dreaming incorporates digital set design and sketch montages, original choreography, experimental sound technology, and a live pit band to creatively bring the story to life. Shirley Dreaming is a magically realistic musical comedy about a young graduate, Shirley, a chronic daydreamer with a singing habit, and her struggle to accept that life after college is not all she expected. When Shirley is unknowingly put in charge of a failing children's book company she must defend herself against the company’s unhappy employees.
