YOU’VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH! It’s finally time for Providence Roller Derby’s 2011 Home Season!

Been dreaming about the shiny pearls of the Old Money Honey’s? Been jonesin’ for the Rat’s eye-popping combo of nuclear green and neon pink? Been cowering in fear, knowing the Mob might be around any corner? Providence home teams are back on the town and ready for a seriously show-stopping season. Join them September 3rd for a matchup of the Old Money Honeys and the Sakonnet River Roller Rats!

Many have been wondering how the home teams are doing… But don’t think for a minute that the recession has affected the Honeys. Captain Shelby Bruisin’ has even recently acquired new assets—Rachel Rayge, Small Wonder, and Varla Gunz. In response, Rats Captain Trophy Knife—back by popular demand—has scrounged up some scraggly new warriors of her own: Buzz AllDread, Ms. American Die, and Cheese Louise (formerly the Rats’ mascot!) It’s going to be a wild match-up! This bout’s charity raffle will benefit the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Many of PRD’s lovely ladies—while vicious on the track—are deeply devoted to their pets at home. Let’s make sure every animal has that kind of home.

When the derby girls are finished, you know they’ll be hungry—join them for the after party at Fat Belly’s (125 Canal St, Providence). When their athlete stomachs are satisfied, they’ll move on to the only thing they love more than derby: karaoke. They’ll need an audience as Big Bill helps them belt out their favorites, so come on out!
