    Groundwork Providence

    Groundwork Providence began as Keep Providence Beautiful in 1983. In 2000 the organization joined the Groundwork network of environmental trusts in order to access national resources and expertise in support of local sustainablity projects.

    Groundwork works to develop healthy, sustainable and green communities for all Providence residents. We believe that the fight for social and economic justice is intimately connected to the well-being of our shared urban environment.

    Groundwork’s programs are designed to help low-income and underserved populations develop their role as stewards of their own environment and their futures.

    Our Mission:

    To promote the sustainable regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment in low-income communities. Our education, employment, job training and stewardship programs all serve the common goal of creating and sustaining healthy, beautiful and green communities for all.
